We live in wonderful times. Safety in every category has improved incredibly over the years. If asked whether we prefer safety over other factors most of us would choose safety.
We never hear of a television fire in the U.S. because televisions in the United States do not burn on their own. My experience with Russound has taught me that some electronic products in the U.S. do catch fire and will burn fiercely on their own.
The safety markings on the electronic products we buy apparently do not give information on flammability and manufacturers like Russound and testing organizations like TUV Rheinland can apparently put safety stickers on a product that can catch fire and start other items in your house on fire. And remember that the recall did not remove the fuel, only one component that can create a spark. And there are many components in the Russound that can create a spark.
Electronic products can be designed that do not catch fire and testing organizations can actually test to make sure these products are safe.
